Public Speaking Course:
Say it with Flowers
A friend of mine who is also a public speaker made a deal with his local flower shop that always
helped him make a lasting impression during his presentations. When
he had an upcoming program he would buy all the fresh flowers that hadn't
been sold. Because the flowers were destined for the garbage anyway,
the florist sold them for a really inexpensive price, just being thankful
to get any amount for them.
My friend would arrive to big fanfare throwing flowers into the crowd. Everyone got a flower to take home and depending on the size
of the crowd, some would get a whole bouquet. He also sent big bunches
as his thank you gift to the meeting organizer. He purposely sent so
many that the organizer could not possibly take them all home. His good
will (and name) was spread all over the company he was speaking for and left
a lasting impression on his audience. This is a unique way of showing
what you learned in your public speaking Course.
